Net Control Instructions

If you are scheduled to handle one of the ACS net control sessions please read over these documentation instructions.

1.  If you have forgotten which day you are acting net control, you may always check the calendar at the ACS website.  If you need someone to handle your scheduled night for any reason, just let me know.

2. We would like to start keeping electronic records of net participation.  To that end, you may download an Excel file at www.lincolncountyacs.org at the “Documents” tab. The file is named “Net Roster Excel Format.”

If you don’t have Microsoft’s Excel software, you can save the file, and open it using the OpenOffice software (available for free at www.openoffice.org).

3.  You may enter check-ins directly onto the spreadsheet or transfer your handwritten notes to the spreadsheet if you prefer.   Once completed, if you would then please convert the file to an Adobe PDF saving it using the naming convention of YYMMDD North Net (or South Net).  For example the south net on March 27, 2012 would be named 120327 North Net.pdf or 120327 South Net.pdf.   If you cannot convert the file, you can send the spreadsheet file to Doug Holbrook and he will happily convert it for the records.

In any event, once you have created the file, please send it to Doug, who will be archiving for the Lincoln County EOC records.

If you have any difficulties, questions, or need assistance with any of this, please let Doug know, and thank you in advance for your help and continued volunteer efforts.

Sign up to be notified in an emergency

Citizens and Businesses Can Sign Up to Receive Critical Alerts During Emergencies
(11.4.11- Lincoln County) Lincoln County has begun using Everbridge Aware™ “Citizen Aware”, an emergency notification system that can communicate with thousands of businesses and residents in minutes during an emergency.

Lincoln County Emergency Services and our 911 dispatch centers can now alert residents county-wide about severe weather, tsunami inundation area evacuations, fires, floods, toxic environmental issues and other emergencies using the notification system. Messages can now be sent to residents on any communication path desired – cell phone, home phone, email, text messaging, fax, pager, PDA and more – ensuring that residents receive life-saving emergency information and important public service announcements in minutes.

Citizens who previously signed up for the former “Reverse 9-1-1” notification will need to sign up again with Everbridge because their information will not transfer to the new system. This new system will allow citizens to provide and manage their contact information and preferences.

In addition, the County may begin using the Everbridge system to notify residents about other important activities, such as road closures and water utility maintenance. More details will be forthcoming. Please join us by signing up and encouraging family, friends and businesses to do the same.

To sign up for emergency alerts, please visit the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Web Site www.lincolncountysheriff.net/emergency and look for the “Citizen Alert” image. Residents who do not have a come computer or internet access should contact their local library for free use of their computers to log on to the internet.
